Calzada de Calatrava, 4 October 2025. The 12th Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival is hosting one of its most eagerly awaited parallel activities: an exhibition dedicated to the cinematic universe of Pedro Almodóvar, with original pieces on loan from El Deseo, the production company founded by the filmmaker four decades ago. The exhibition, open throughout the festival at the Rafael Serrano Cultural Centre, brings together costume elements, sets and props that have formed part of some of the most emblematic films by the director from Calzado, such as La ley del deseo(1987), Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios (1988), La piel que habito (2011), Los amantes pasajeros (2013) or Dolor y gloria (2019).
The mayoress of Calzada de Calatrava, Gema García, has underlined the importance of having a proposal of these characteristics within the framework of the festival. “The value of this exhibition and the great reception it is having fills us with pride. This exhibition is not just an exhibition of objects, it is an immersive experience that allows the visitor to feel the essence of the cinema of one of the great contemporary creators”.
In this line, the director of the festival has highlighted the historical and emotional relevance of the elements exhibited. Since “we have pieces of enormous value for cinematographic memory, such as Eusebio Poncela’s shirt in La ley del deseo, an iconic object in Almodóvar’s filmography. We have also recovered the bar from Kika, another of the elements that mark the visual strength of the director’s universe”. Both treasures, “are of incalculable value to the Almodóvar family”.
The exhibition is receiving a great response from the public.
