The festival has a specialised jury that will award six prizes: Best Short Film and Second Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. And, of course, the audience of the festival will award the Audience Award.

The festival will also award the Audience Award.

The mayoress of Calzada de Calatrava, Gema García, has underlined the importance of this announcement for the cultural projection of the town. “For us it is an honour to have this selection of 25 short films, which bring to our public works that have been screened in prestigious festivals. The festival not only invigorates the cultural life of Calzada, but also places us on the national map as a reference point for film lovers”.

The mayoress of Calzada also stressed that this diversity and quality make the festival an unmissable event, so she invited “everyone to enjoy a cinema that excites, that makes you think and that shows the talent of our creators. From the 1st to the 11th of October, Calzada will be a place where the seventh art is experienced with intensity”.

The director of the festival, Hernán Valdés, explained that this edition marks a qualitative leap in the programme, taking into account that “these short films are endorsed by professional juries from CortoEspaña and the Fugaz Awards, which guarantees exceptional quality. They are works that have passed a rigorous selection process and that show the best of current Spanish cinema, with directors and actors of great trajectory”.

Valdés also highlighted the new organisation of the screenings, designed for the enjoyment of the audience, and said that “we have designed four 90-minute sessions combining different genres and techniques. The spectator will find animation, drama, comedy and horror in the same screening, which makes the experience much more dynamic, varied and attractive”.

In this twelfth edition, the Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival is sponsored by the Association for the Development of Campo de Calatrava, within the framework of the LEADER programme, co-financed by the European Union, the Government of Spain, and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha.

The festival is also subsidised by the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha and the Diputación Provincial.
