The 10th Calzada International Film Festival will not only screen five feature films and more than 40 short films on a big screen from August 10th to 19th at night in the Patio San Francisco of the town, but also has a series of parallel activities that complete an incomparable programme. The viewerswill also be able to enjoy during these days the Globe Story show, the ‘Al Modo Bar’ tapas competition, the concert of film soundtracks and another of an interactive nature, gastronomic experiences of nuts, video dance performance, express cinema workshop and the tribute of the famous actor Miguel Rellán.
There will also be two photographic exhibitions not to be missed from 10 to 19 August. The first exhibition brings together images from the ten years of the festival and will be located in the Patio San Francisco, while the second one celebrates the works of Almodóvar with the exhibition of 22 posters, which will be located in the Calle General Aguilera of the municipality, which is the street where the mother and neighbours of the illustrious filmmaker used to live. Both are initiatives of the neighbourhood of Calzada de Calatrava, which play a very important role in the success of the festival. To this wide-ranging parallel programme must be added the concert by La Unión Uno, which dazzled all those present during the presentation of the festival last Sunday.

On August 10th, the the opening of the festivalat the Rafael Serrano Cultural Centre in the town and on the same date and space the show Globe Story will take place, which is a theatre comedy where love prevails. A love affair unites the lives of Greta and Max forever. It is a perfect occasion to enjoy culture and performance on stage, which will also serve as a tribute to silent films. On the same day, the ‘Al Modo Bar’ where six establishments from Calzada de Calatrava will delight any diner with their culinary expertise. Anyone who completes the route and tastes each tapa, which is named after a film, will be eligible for 200 euros in gift tickets that can be used in the participating establishments of this consolidated and eagerly awaited competition.
On Saturday 12 August from 12 noon onwards, the Tourism Office of Calzada de Calatrava (Calle Cervantes, 61) a tasting-tasting with white and red wines from the region, which will be paired with almonds as the protagonist product by Pedro Ciudad Imedio from Finca La Rosala de Calzada de Calatrava. This Saturday evening will see one of the most exciting events. The Agrupación Musical Santa Cecilia will dazzle the audience of El Patio San Francisco with a concert of film soundtracks. Themes such as Movie Night, 1492 Conquest of Paradise, Colors of the Wind or The Lord of the Rings, will be just some of the cinematic musical creativities that attendees will be able to listen to. It will be hard to contain your excitement at this event.
The Monday 14 Augustthere will be two very important events. The first will start in the morning, at 12 noon in the Rafael Serrano Cultural Centre and is aimed at the youngest film fans. The Menuda Session will be held so that they can also have a place in the festival. It is important that the new generations can get to know the benefits and virtues of culture and, in this case, all that the seventh art has to offer.

In the afternoon, all spectators will be left with their mouths wide open. Akaida Orozco will present ‘Nació una hembrita’ in the Patio San Francisco at 23.30 in the Patio San Francisco. It is a play framed in the Hiparquía section, whose theme is about gender violence, equality and feminism. It is a stage production based on documentary, newspaper and testimonial research to explore, through dance, performance and new technologies, the metaphor of movement, the poetics of the word and the richness of the audiovisual translated into video art and video dance.

Tuesday 15 August from 12 noon in the morning at the Calzada de Calatrava Tourist Office (Calle Cervantes, 61) the second tasting-tasting will take place. The company Queen from Manzanares will offer pistachio tasting with delicacies such as horchata, hummus and ice cream made with this rich nut. The an interactive concert of dance, aerial acrobatics and cabaret for all audiences by Petit Suiete Band. The thrill will be there again and spectators will be able to vibrate with a lively and particularly innovative and ground-breaking staging.
The perfect finale will come on 19 August with the closing galahomage to the famous actor Miguel Rellán, who is the figure honoured in this tenth edition of the 10th Calzada de Calatrava International Film Festival. The event will begin at 20.30 at the Rafael Serrano Cultural Centre. It should be noted that Miguel Rellán is a very recognisable face on the screens after a lifetime dedicated to the world of acting in both films and series, as well as on the stage of theatres.
