On Tuesday 6 October at 7.45 pm, before the day’s screening, the Calzada de Calatrava Association of Housewives, Consumers and Users will present the video ‘Elaborando Rosquillos’, a heart-warming audiovisual tribute to our town’s traditional pastries.
Rosquillos form part of the so-called ‘birulios’, the generic name for the traditional Easter pastries of La Mancha, alongside barquillos, enaceitaos, flores, rosquillos de bote and torrijas. Rosquillos — whether pan-fried or baked in a tin — are made with eggs, aniseed, oil, sugar, cinnamon, flour, yeast and grated lemon and orange zest.
A tradition passed down from generation to generation, which this video rescues from oblivion. Free admission.
