Calzada de Calatrava, 26 September 2025. The 12th Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival will have, for the first time, an official media partner: La Tribuna de Ciudad Real, which this year celebrates its 35th anniversary and joins the festival as a strategic ally to give greater visibility to one of the most important cultural events in the province. This agreement was signed yesterday between the mayoress of Calzada de Calatrava, Gema García, and the director of La Tribuna de Ciudad Real, Diego Murillo, during the presentation of the twelfth edition of the festival, which will be held from the 1st to the 11th of October.
The mayoress of Calzada de Calatrava, Gema García, underlined the importance of this agreement, which she considers a “decisive step” for the consolidation of the festival in its national projection. The fact is that “having La Tribuna de Ciudad Real as an official media outlet is a fundamental support. This newspaper, which has been a news reference for the province for 35 years, now joins a cultural project born in our land and with a vocation to continue growing”, he explained. Therefore, for Calzada de Calatrava and for all lovers of the seventh art, “it is a source of pride that a medium of this trajectory and prestige accompanies us in this edition”.
In this sense, Gema García thanked Diego Murillo for his willingness “at all times to make La Tribuna de Ciudad Real the official media of the festival, thus allowing and helping to spread the word about everything that surrounds the festival”. “We couldn’t be happier,” he stressed.
For his part, the director of La Tribuna de Ciudad Real, Diego Murillo, stressed that the alliance with the festival responds to the newspaper’s vocation to be close to the citizens and to support initiatives that are born in the territory. The director explained that, for La Tribuna de Ciudad Real, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this autumn, “the commitment to promoting culture and supporting artists is materialised in its collaboration with the Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival, the birthplace of Pedro Almodóvar and a reference point for Campo de Calatrava”.
The newspaper’s commitment to the promotion of culture and support for artists is materialised in its collaboration with the Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival, the birthplace of Pedro Almodóvar and a reference point for Campo de Calatrava.
This initiative “is part of the commemorative actions of the anniversary, with which La Tribuna wants to promote sports, cultural and social projects, not only from its pages, its website and its networks, but also by directly accompanying activities that are born in the territory. In this case, it is a small town with a great regional and provincial projection”, he remarked.
Diego Murillo also stressed that “with this, the newspaper reaffirms its commitment to go beyond being a mere witness and chronicler of events: it wants to be a participant, together with its protagonists, of the stories, traditions and achievements of the society of Ciudad Real”.
With this agreement, the 12th Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival adds a key ally to reinforce its dissemination and consolidate its position as a cultural reference in the province and in Castilla-La Mancha, while La Tribuna de Ciudad Real takes another step forward in its mission to promote and actively participate in the cultural, social and artistic life of the territory.
In this twelfth edition, the Calzada de Calatrava Film Festival is sponsored by the Association for the Development of Campo de Calatrava, within the framework of the LEADER programme, co-financed by the European Union, the Government of Spain, and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha.
The festival is also subsidised by the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha and the Diputación Provincial. It also receives financial support from the Producer el Deseo, Finca La Rosala, Fundación Globalcaja and Carpintería Calatrava. It also counts with the collaboration of the Public Schools Ignacio de Loyola and Teresa de Jesús of Calzada de Calatrava, the IES Eduardo Valencia of Calzada de Calatrava, cultural collectives and associations of the town, JR Fotografía, Mi Escapada Favorita, CortoEspaña, Premios Fugaz as Festival amigo, and the platforms Movibeta and Festhome.
